A one-portal program to coordinate large-scale partnerships

The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations works to align and maintain mutually beneficial relationships between the university and our major partners in industry.

Campus-wide coordination, consistent communication, evidence of impact, and comprehensive stewardship are all expected by companies with the capacity to make donations of six figures and up to research institutions such as Virginia Tech.

With this in mind, our Principal Partners Program  provides a convenient, one-portal program to maximize philanthropic support from corporations and foundations that have the potential to make transformative gifts in support of research, outreach, education, or economic development.

By collaborating with the Office of Sponsored Programs and the Office of the Vice President for Research, we have identified major funding opportunities in the following target areas.

  • National security and defense technology
  • Performance materials and additive manufacturing
  • Innovation and entrepreneurship
  • Clean energy education and innovation
  • Diversity and inclusion
  • Health and wellness

Faculty working in these areas as researchers, educators, or fundraisers are encouraged to contact our office to learn more about our Principal Partners Program, review our catalog of major funding opportunities, and ensure effective coordination of all requests for support from our current or potential principal partners.

Learn more by contacting Deborah Hamilton, acting director of Corporate and Foundation Relations and associate director of Corporate and Foundation Relations for the College of Engineering, at dshamilt@vt.edu or 540-231-6648.
